How to Use ▲ collapse
  1. Select a basin from the basin dropdown.
  2. Select a year from the year dropdown.
  3. Select a storm from the storm dropdown, or type a name/year in the search bar to filter results.
  4. Press the Play button to animate the storm track.
  5. Toggle Season mode on to animate all storms in the selected year sequentially.
  6. Set a date and time in the time jump inputs, then press Rewind or Fast-forward to jump the animation to that point.

Legend

Colors represent wind speed categories on the Saffir-Simpson scale (from Tropical Depression through Category 5).

  • Circles — tropical systems (depression, storm, hurricane/typhoon/cyclone)
  • Squares — subtropical systems
  • Triangles — non-tropical systems (extratropical, remnant low, disturbance)
