Select a storm from the storm dropdown, or type a name/year in the search bar to filter results.
Press the Play button to animate the storm track.
Toggle Season mode on to animate all storms in the selected year sequentially.
Set a date and time in the time jump inputs, then press Rewind or Fast-forward to jump the animation to that point.
Modes
📡 Active mode — Toggle on to show currently active storms worldwide with live positions, forecast cones, and formation (invest/GTWO) areas. Data refreshes automatically every 10 minutes. Selecting a basin from the dropdown turns Active mode off automatically so you can drop into individual or season mode.
Individual mode — The default: pick a basin, year, and storm to animate a single track.
🌀 Season mode — Animate every storm in the selected season chronologically, with running ACE, season totals, and a timeline.
Display Options
Units — Switch wind between mph and km/h, and pressure between mb and inHg.
Theme — Toggle the map and site between Dark and Light.
Grid — Toggle a lat/lon graticule that adapts to zoom level.
Recenter — Snap the map back to the selected basin's default view.
Intensity panel — Wind and pressure time-series plots for the selected storm.
Satellite image — When available, shows the latest satellite imagery for the storm in view.

Legend
Colors represent wind speed categories on the Saffir-Simpson scale (from Tropical Depression through Category 5).
Circles — tropical systems (depression, storm, hurricane/typhoon/cyclone)
Squares — subtropical systems
Triangles — non-tropical systems (extratropical, remnant low, disturbance)
Select a basin, year, and storm — then press Play to animate.
